This hadn't been such a big deal until we took a weekend trip. It had been about eight months since we had gone anywhere because travel with Geddy is usually exhausting, but we were excited to finally get out and about now that he is older. We took along his portable play yard to serve as his bed. He is so mobile now that it is more important than ever to keep him contained while sleeping or he might wake up and go. Well, he decided that he could not only stand up in his bed just like back home, he could also try to climb out, and, hey, he could reach all the items on the desk nearby! Thankfully I was in the room to stop him before he got to the scissors! So I moved his crib, laid him back down, and told him it was time to sleep. Uh uh. Not for Geddy. Like a Jack-in-the-Box without the crank, Geddy sang and popped up again as soon as his head touched the mattress. He stayed awake for almost ten hours straight one day because his little body just couldn't nap, no matter how sleepy he got. But what a happy little pop-up toy he is!
One could go on and on forever talking about anything, but I'll just touch on it here.

Pop Goes the Weasel!
Our son recently taught himself how to stand up in his crib. He stands up everywhere now, but this new skill is most humorous when time for nap or bed. How fun, he must think, to lie down, snuggle in his blanket, wiggle and close his eyes and make Mommy and Daddy think he is about to go to sleep, just like always. Then, as soon as we leave the room, he pops up like Tigger on his tail and drops his binky over the side of the crib. No one goes back in right away so he starts to jabber and bang his hands on the railing. Then, when one of us comes in he laughs and laughs and laughs. We scoop him up, lay him down, tell him it's time to go to sleep, tuck him in, and walk out again. Even before we get to the door Geddy is rolling over. No sleep.
